Microsoft discourages advertisement

Seems like Microsoft is sending a strong message across through it’s new Windows Vista Boot screen, at least that’s what Paul Thurrott had to say to us in a short email session:

No, it’s because Microsoft was trying to convince BIOS, PC, and video card makers to reduce PC boot time by turning off unnecessary pre-boot advertisement screens, and this is their way of showing them how Windows can be minimalist as well and do its part to reduce boot time. By switching to this low-impact progress bar, Microsoft says it is reducing the boot time of Windows Vista by 6 seconds.

“Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.” - Confucius.
