Microsoft discourages advertisement

Seems like Microsoft is sending a strong message across through it’s new Windows Vista Boot screen, at least that’s what Paul Thurrott had to say to us in a short email session:

No, it’s because Microsoft was trying to convince BIOS, PC, and video card makers to reduce PC boot time by turning off unnecessary pre-boot advertisement screens, and this is their way of showing them how Windows can be minimalist as well and do its part to reduce boot time. By switching to this low-impact progress bar, Microsoft says it is reducing the boot time of Windows Vista by 6 seconds.

Paul

I think I like the idea…how about you?

This is a great move by Microsoft, who wants to see Dell’s logo while their computer is booting or some other bull crap. I love the minimalistic approach, the faster the computer boots, the better.

I totally agree sean, the fact that we own some brand of pc or hardware to be shown to us every time we boot is ridiculous and just not needed.

Good move indeed.
