Google quietly released a great screensaver along with the release of the Google Pack but not all of us find it practical to install the pack espcially if we are only interested in getting certain parts of it.
We decided to release the Google Photos Screensaver as a standalone file which people can install and use in a few simple steps:
1. Download GPhotos Screensaver
2. Go to the “C:\WINDOWS\system32″ directory
3. Put GPhotos.scr into that folder.
Simple as that, now you can configure your custom photo feeds that you want to display as your screensaver.

Anybody have any problems getting this to work properly?
RSS feeds don’t work, for me (the title of the feed shows up in the window, but no pics get displayed), and only Pan & Zoom is available among the effects (Wipe, Collage, and Crossfade aren’t there in the drop-down box).
Just trying to figure out if it’s purely because I have Win 2000 (the Google Pack is listed as being only for XP & Vista), or what’s going on. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. This is quite useful, especially when I’m thinking to install this screensaver on my W2k3 machine. The pack only supports xp and vista versions.

I currently use the Picasa2 screen saver, but that one does not do rss feeds. So I wanted to try the screen saver from Google Pack. However, my machine here is a Win2000 system, which is not supported by Pack. So I tried this standalone edition. It works just fine… except the rss feeds.
So I reverted to the Picasa2 screen saver.
But thanks anyway.

Hi,
It worked as a charm.
And the best part is that I configured my picasa web albums via feeds and it was cool.
Thank you.

Thanks you really helped me on that one. Google wasn’t allowing me to download the Gphotos screensaver. I was able to get it for my PC but not on my notebook. Google wouldn’t respond to my e-mails. So thanks again . . .

I am running VISTA on an HP laptop – the program will NOT let me save in a windows/system32 folder. How do I get rid of the old Google Photos Screensaver and make way for the upgrade?

It worked, even though I can’t install it to my vista machine via Google Pack.

Thanks! I just configured a friend’s computer running W2K with the screensaver, works great!! I had no problem getting the feeds to work (right click desktop -> properties -> screensaver -> settings.)
You guys are the bomb!! Keep up the great work.

(PS. I have Vista Ultimate SP1 with the Google Pack running on another box, so for those running Vista I would suggest you make sure you have SP1 installed and any other updates for the pack.)

Hi
I am a newbie using Vista Ultimate Business edition with the latest update (as at today).
I had copied the file to System 32 folder, but could not see this on screen saver (as per my XP machine).
Did I missed a step ?
Help appreciated.
