Getting your iPhone/iTouch to v2.0

The recent release of the Pwnage Tool by the Dev Team has caused a lot of commotion in the iPhone community. Custom jailbroken and unlocked firmwares can be created using this tool and used directly from itunes. With such a nice feature it was only obvious that the new v2.0 Beta firmware would be leaked onto the internet and it definitely did.

Now how do we get the new firmware onto the iPhone? Currently this is a Mac only process with the windows tool releasing soon.

What do you need?

- Dev Team’s Pwnage Tool / WiFi Fix / Bootloader Files

- An iPhone / iTouch

- iPhone/iTouch Firmware 2.0 Restore files:

iPhone // iTouch // Both in one torrent

Here is what to do next:

Instructions (Mac):

Before doing anything below, plug in your iPhone or iTouch to your computer and put it in restore mode!

Step 1

Open up the Pwnage Tool

Step 2

Next Click “Browse ipsw” in the program and select the firmware 2.0 restore file you downloaded before. About three lines of text will appear on the program and they will state the file has been loaded.

Note: If the program asks for the bootloader files you can find these files in the download links at the top of this post.

Step 3

Next Click “IPSW Builder” in the program. A pop-up box will appear. Make sure the “Activate iPhone” and “Use DevTeam custom Pictures” is enabled and click OK.

Step 4

Now the program will ask you to save the custom firmware, name the file whatever you like and click Save. Once the custom firmware is built, the program will display “successfully built custom .ipsw etc etc”.

Step 5

Now close the pwnage tool and open iTunes. iTunes will notice the iPhone in restore mode and will give you a prompt, just click OK to that.

Next click the Restore button in iTunes and select the custom firmware file you saved using the pwnage tool in Step 4.

Step 6

iTunes will do it’s thing and start the restore process. After the restore is done, your device will reboot and a program called “BoodNeuter” will run automatically. Once completed you should have an activated/jailbroken and unlocked iPhone / iTouch.

*Note: Firmware 2.0 is currently in the BETA stage and might not be stable.

Enjoy!
