How-to : Downgrade OTB iPhone 1.1.3

So you got a shiny new iPhone after hearing the news on the new grohot 4.6 unlock and soon after firing it up you realize that it is running 1.1.3 and that 1.1.3 has no “jailbreak only” solution that works straight on that version.

Now you are stuck with downgrading the firmware, but most methods out there either don’t work or don’t exist at all. Here are a few steps that will ensure you a proper downgrade:

1) Open up iTunes (I have tested this with v7.5) and let it detect your iPhone. One you see your iPhone in iTunes go to step 2.

2) Press and hold-down both the Power and Home buttons.

3) Release the Power button when you see the phone disconnects and disappears from iTunes. This takes place in about 10 seconds. The iPhone’s screen goes black. (Be careful at this step, you might have to do it several times to get the hang of it)

4) Release the Home button when you see the iPhone re-connects and re-appears in iTunes. Again this happens in about 10 seconds. The screen should still be black!!

5) Now you iTunes will give you a message saying it is in Recovery mode, click OK and then Shift-Restore. Navigate to your 1.1.1 ipsw and let the iPhone restore.

6) After restore you get error; just click OK. Now iTunes will again tell you that your phone is in recovery mode. Do a 111 restore again and after that you will get the same error 1015.

7) Open up iBrickr 0.91 and click the boot link. Your iPhone’s screen will go red and it will reboot soon after.

You will now see the v1.1.1 activation screen! The drill after this can be found here.

Enjoy!
